The Pensée Journals: Immanuel Velikovsky Reconsidered

Pensée is a series of 10 journals conceived by David Talbott and Stephen Talbott with the first issue coming out in May 1972. Both the publisher, David, and the editor, Stephen, were intrigued by the ideas, work, and impact of Immanuel Velikovsky. They desired to provide an article forum for involved, knowledgeable people to evaluate the whole "Velikvosky affair" about 30 years after Worlds in Collision first broke upon Western civilization like a cultural and intellectual starburst in 1950.

The Talbott brothers worked closely with Velikovsky and further published some of his additional articles. This series of journals was the first of its kind and was quite successful, covering a very wide range of facets, challenges, and aspects raised by the proposed reconstruction of ancient times. These journals were foundational, reaching a circulation close to 20,000, and were instrumental in increasing interest and support for planetary catastrophic thinking. They get credit for a groundswell of renewed interest in Velikovsky's reconstruction and the whole planetary catastrophism movement by providing the only medium for interested and supportive scholars to get their work published.

Everybody that wants to be widely, deeply, and roundly educated should read most of these journal issues and articles.

The KRONOS Journals

Sometime after the planned series of 10 Pensée Journals were published, another group of scholars took up the mantle of the catastrophism movement and began to publish the KRONOS Journals out of Princeton, New Jersey. These were some of the most erudite scholars in the world, and most of them knew Immanuel Velikovsky personally and collaborated with him.

They published articles that were germane yet covered a wide range of subjects, including ancient languages, archeology, astronomy, catastrophe, cosmology, ancient myth, geology, psychology, human history, modern science, sociology, solar system dynamics, the scientific establishment, etc.

Everybody that wants to be widely, deeply, and roundly educated should read most of these journal issues and articles.

The HORUS Journals

Sometime after the series of KRONOS Journals began to be published, another group of scholars also took up the mantle of the catastrophism movement and formed The Institute for the Study of Collective Behavior and Memory. Under the Managing Editor, William Douglas, they began to publish the HORUS Journals in 1985. Again, these were some of the most erudite scholars in the world, and most of them knew Immanuel Velikovsky personally and collaborated with him.

The Institute of the Study of Collective Behavior and Memory was a non-profit organization whose general purpose was to pursue research into ancient rituals, cosmologies, myths and legends, monuments and temples, symbols, systems of abstract and applied knowledge, and other clues to the early psychological history of mankind. They found that a range of discoveries over the previous few years had opened new lines of interpretation and suggested fascinating alternatives to the traditional concepts of the ancient world.

Everybody that wants to be widely, deeply, and roundly educated should read most of these journal issues and articles..
